About this course

HLTAID012 is the education and care version of Provide First Aid. It covers the same core first aid and CPR content, then adds the areas that matter most in a childcare, kindergarten or school setting — asthma management, anaphylaxis and adrenaline auto-injectors, and responding to emergencies involving infants and young children.

It is the unit commonly listed against the first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis requirements for education and care services, so one course covers all three rather than three separate certificates. Check your service’s specific requirements with your approved provider or regulator.

HLTAID012 questions

The things people ask us most about this course.

Does this course cover asthma and anaphylaxis?

Yes. Asthma management and anaphylaxis, including adrenaline auto-injector technique, are built into HLTAID012 — you do not need to book separate asthma or anaphylaxis courses alongside it.

Is this the right course for a childcare centre?

HLTAID012 is the unit usually specified for education and care settings, because it covers first aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis together. Requirements can vary between services and states, so confirm with your approved provider or regulator before booking.

How is it different from HLTAID011?

The core first aid and CPR content is shared. HLTAID012 adds asthma and anaphylaxis management, more infant and child-specific content, and emergency planning for education and care services.

How long does the certificate last?

Three years is standard practice for the full certificate, with the CPR component refreshed every 12 months. Your service may require more frequent renewal.

Can you train our whole centre?

Yes — we regularly run this course on site for centres and schools around Cairns, including on weekends or pupil-free days. Group bookings of more than 20 students receive a 20% discount.

When do I get my certificate?

Typically emailed within 2 hours of completing the course.
