About this course

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the nationally recognised unit that covers everything from CPR and defibrillation through to bleeding, burns, fractures, bites and medical emergencies. It is the certificate most employers, sporting clubs and volunteer organisations list as their minimum requirement.

Gary teaches it the way you will actually need it — real incidents from twenty years on the tools, hands-on practice on adult, child and infant manikins, and no death-by-slideshow. You complete a short online workbook before the day, then spend the session practising rather than reading.

HLTAID011 questions

The things people ask us most about this course.

Does this course include CPR?

Yes. The CPR component is built into HLTAID011, so you do not need to book HLTAID009 separately. Keep in mind the CPR skill itself is generally refreshed every 12 months, while the full first aid certificate runs to three years.

What is the difference between the 6-hour and 4-hour option?

The certificate is identical. The 4-hour short course shifts more of the theory into the online pre-work, so the classroom time is spent almost entirely on practical skills. The 6-hour traditional session covers more of that theory together in the room.

How long is my certificate valid?

Industry practice is to renew Provide First Aid every three years, with the CPR component refreshed annually. Your employer or industry body may set a shorter interval, so it is worth checking.

When will I receive my certificate?

Your Statement of Attainment is typically emailed within 2 hours of completing the course, so you can forward it to your employer straight away.

Do I have to do the online pre-course work?

Yes — it is a requirement of the course and takes most people under an hour. We email it as soon as you book. If you would rather sit a paper-based exam on the day, let us know in the comments when you book.

Can you run this course at my workplace?

We can. Group and corporate bookings run at your site anywhere in and around Cairns, at a time that suits your team. Group bookings of more than 20 students receive a 20% discount.
